Storytelling Program for Families
Featuring: Storyteller Nellie Kerr-Cusworth

In this program, three stories are told:
The Two Watering Pails: An Indian Folk Story,
Ananzi the Spider: An African Folktale,
and
The Little Old Lady Who was Not Afraid of Anything

These stories emphasize the unique qualities human beings have, and how within our differences we are still all “created equal”. We all share the basic needs for love and compassion. In addition to the stories, Nellie will lead the audience in a “rain dance” in which the sound of a rainstorm is enacted using body percussion. Nellie uses a unique blend of storytelling, audience participation and music to bring folklore, literature and mythology from many cultures and times to life. Humor and fantasy weave together stories of the past and present to give resonance to children’s lives today.
